Unfortunately, the way it works is the plans have all been filed. As a matter of fact, carriers know what the plans are and their rates, but Healthcare.gov doesn’t have access to them nor do the general public. When are we going to have access? I would anticipate getting access November 1st and not a minute sooner. Healthcare.gov usually does a sneak peek of the plans a week ahead of time because each year there are a lot of changes. Each year carriers leave the market, carriers change plans, and most importantly rates go up. We do know that all three are going to happen; we just don’t know to what extent it will happen.
To honestly share what the best plan out there is right now is not possible; we really won’t be able to know until we receive the rates on November 1st.
I know it sounds strange but be patient. It’s a truncated year; we’ve got forty-five days and we will get to everybody we can.
Like I said, get with your agent as soon as possible and review your plan, whether that means updating your information, staying with the same plan if you came in, switching to a new plan with the same carrier, or going with a different carrier. If you work with your agent, the process will go faster and smoother and be as painless as possible.
