7 Tips for sticking to your diet

Dieting is hard, sticking to a diet is even harder. So here are my tips for having a long, healthy diet. One that lasts you for the long term, rather than short term. Because there are many diets out there it’s hard to have specific tips for each diet. These tips may not work for some of you due to the type of diet you’re on. However, These tips have helped me stay on my diet.

Tip 1 Meal Prep.

If you can go into your fridge and pull out your meal, whatever it is and its at least partially ready to go, then you don’t have to think about it. You can grab it, put it in your bag and go to work or school. Try meal prepping on Sunday Nights, I find that most things are good for up to 6 days in the fridge.

Tip 2 Don’t go out.

This does not mean you should not have a social life and go meet friends at the bar or wherever they are. This just means if your friends want to go out and eat at a restaurant either don’t go or eat beforehand. Avoid fast food at all costs.

Tip 3 Drink Black Coffee or Tea.

If your diet, like mine, includes intermittent fasting you can drink black coffee or tea and not break your fast. This helps with your cravings and suppresses hunger. It’s extremely helpful when you’re out and about and hungry, just have black coffee or tea.

Tip 4 Break your food up throughout the day.

Rather than eating two or three meals a day. Break your food up into smaller meals. This helps you stay full and gives you less of a chance for breaking your diet since you simply won’t be all that hungry.

Tip 5 Go for a walk.

Walking has always helped me curve from cravings, and its good for you too! I usually walk at least 10,000 steps a day but try to hit around 15,000. Hit whatever milestone you can when you walk. It’s good for your heart and health!

Tip 6 Play with your pet.

Anything that keeps your mind off your diet or your cravings.

Tip 7 Have a cheat day/meal.

Let yourself enjoy your favorite item/items but in moderation. This will help you stick to your diet and give you a reward at the end of the week for sticking to your diet.

That’s it, those are my tips to sticking to your diet. It takes willpower and time, and a lot of work. But diets can be extremely beneficial to our health.
