Cracked hands ruining your day? Are you continuously washing your hands and writhing in pain? We un-moisturized folk know your pain. Your skin begins to rip and tear, and soon, you have little cuts all over your hands. The worst part is that you can’t really rest your hands to give them time to heal either; we are always doing something with our hands. Another terrible foil of cracked hands is that if you cook frequently, you can get spices in your cuts, and the irritation gets so painful. Ouch! So what are we to do? We can’t always walk around in moisture-trapping gloves, can we? Well, maybe you can, but I certainly can’t. Read on to find out more about how we can increase the health of our hands.

What Does Lotion Do?

Lotion moisturizes the skin. You may know this already, but you probably didn’t know your skin doesn’t actually absorb anything. Our skin’s main purpose is to protect our body from germs, and our skin makes no exceptions to ointments and creams. What we feel on our hands after we apply the cream is just the cream itself. The lotion inventors design it for application and to remain on your hands for a time. The cream has a soft and smooth texture. So when we apply lotion, it acts as a “protective coat” for your hands. Nothing more.

Why Bother Then?

Just because your hands don’t absorb the cream doesn’t mean they are entirely useless. As stated above, lotion acts as a protective coat but not a deep cleanse that many would assume. The benefits of using the cream are many, actually. Certain creams create soothing relief for many who have itchy, dry hands. They also provide time for your hands to recover. When you walk around with dry, chapped hands, your hand is in constant repair mode. Help them out by applying some cream. You want to avoid chapped hands. Chapped hands can lead to pain, irritation, and cracked hands. Avoid the pain and suffering by simply applying a bit of lotion.

Why Do People Not Use Lotion?

Some people don’t like to use lotion. I am one of them. I don’t like to have greasy hands, and touching my electronics leaves an awful stain on all my plastic. This situation leaves me with the unfortunate fate of having dry, scaly skin. If you are like me, what are we supposed to do now? We electronic enthusiasts are in luck. There are a few options that give us some relief. Some of these items include low-moisture creams, sprays, and cream bars. There are many more out there, and if you find one you like, leave us a comment below and let us all know!

From everything we discussed, we understand that our hand health requires applying lotion. As much as we hate our hands feeling chapped, we hate cracked hands more. Make sure you apply a healthy amount of lotion daily to protect your skin and your sanity.
