How to Improve your 5 Senses

The perception of our world is based off what we understand. Humans have an enhanced understanding of the world, due to our five senses that help us understand the world at a deeper level. Our five senses include sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch – all of which send sensory to our brain that is then processed into a reaction. These senses give our world color, but that doesn’t mean that we are limited to that coloring box. If we were able to increase the strength of each of our senses we would also in return be able to enjoy the world even more. I’ve found a few tips and tricks that can help increase your 5 senses, and today, I’m going to share those with you!

SMELL

Each of your senses has its own function as you might know. Each sense needs its own attention in order to strengthen it. The first sense that I have a tip for is your sense of smell. With smell, simple things like using a humidifier and staying away from bad smells can significantly improve your smell. One thing people don’t do enough is to literally take the time to stop and smell the roses. Simply taking small sniffs of good smelling scents will get your nose working. The constant use of your nose will slowly make your sense of smell more powerful.

SOUND

You will want to train most of your senses the same and that’s using them more often than normal. With sound, you should try focusing in on certain sounds around you more. The ability to focus your hearing on one specific thing is excellent training. You can also sharpen hearing by listening to music, but remember to listen at a 40% volume to protect ears from damage.

SIGHT

Some senses have fewer ways to improve itself, but still, they can be strengthened to higher levels. Your eyes seem like something that you’re kinda stuck with. Well, apparently the more you read the sharper your eyes are able to put words to pictures and vice versa. Video games also increase hand-eye coordination due to thinking fast during a game.

TASTE

Before doing research, I could’ve told you how to improve your taste. Eat more variety! The cool thing about taste buds is that they change every few years and with this change comes a variety of new flavors you never knew about. Try something different on the menu every once in a while and stay away from GMO’s. Natural taste is a lot better anyways.

TOUCH

Since we always have had our senses, we tend to ignore new experiences in whole. For instance, we touch multiple things a day, but never slow down to really let it sink in. With touch, everything has a different feeling and texture so it’s important to pay attention to those differences and remember them.

I hope these tips help you develop a better sense of the world with better senses.
