New Year Resolutions You Can Keep 1

Resolutions you can keep that will not take away from your life.

The start of 2023 brings you an excellent opportunity to create New Year resolutions you can keep. Doing so will help you make the most of your new year. It’s no surprise that many people use this time to pledge their commitment to making healthy lifestyle changes to improve their well-being in different aspects of their lives. While in the spur of the moment, we may believe that we can accomplish anything, recent studies have shown that most people give up on their goals within the first month of pledging them. We must not overcommit ourselves and stick with simplicity to accomplish our goals.

Weight Loss

recent poll showed that 19% of respondents aimed at making weight loss their goal for 2023. Because so many chronic conditions connect to being overweight, a resolution to lose weight is an important step you can take toward better health and well-being. One way to keep to this habit and make it viable is to pledge to lose a little at a time. Do not overwork yourself and expect quick and instant body changes. Pace yourself and set reasonable goals, and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. “Over the long term, it’s smart to aim for losing 1 to 2 pounds (0.5 to 1 kilogram) a week. Generally to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week, you need to burn 500 to 1,000 calories more than you consume each day, through a lower calorie diet and regular physical activity.” Success loves preparation. Changing your perspective on your goals will help you keep to the program and maintain the proper footing in your climb toward success. Healthier You

The same poll revealed that 20% of respondents aimed goals toward improving their physical health. This task is a monumental change because many people are not in tune with their bodies, and thus creates a disconnect between who they are and who they want to be. Scheduling an annual checkup with your doctor can be an advantageous way to help you stay healthy. Regular visits and preventive screenings help your doctor identify minor issues before they become much bigger problems down the road. Remember, treatment is much more effective when detected early. Even if nothing feels wrong, it is an affirming action to hear from a professional that you are in a good state of health, so this can become one of your resolutions you can keep in 2023.

Mental Health

The poll conducted in December of 2022 informed that 12% of respondents pledged toward improving their mental health. Mental health covers a spectrum of our well-being: emotional, psychological, and social attributes. These characteristics are an important part of our daily lives because they represent who we are inside and are displayed in our actions daily. For example, we might be dealing with a lot of stress in our daily lives from the push-notification lifestyle. “Long-term stress increases the risk of mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, substance use problems, sleep problems, pain, and bodily complaints such as muscle tension.” Luckily for us, there are ways to manage your stress levels without resorting to prescription medication. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress, and virtually any form of physical activity can garner stress relief. Physical activity can increase your endorphins, help improve your mood, as well as enhance your sense of well-being. They say laughter is the best medicine, and studies have shown that laughter has quantifiable positive physiological benefits such as stimulating your organs, activating and releasing your stress response, and soothing tension in the body. This year bring it upon yourself to call a buddy and have a laugh about old times. Reminiscing with laughter can also become one of the resolutions you can keep this year, and it will do your mind some good.
