Why You Need an Insurance Agent

With so many options/ways to get your health insurance, you may wonder which is the best route to take. You can even call carriers directly and purchase your health plan right over the phone. But is that really the best route to take? You don’t know which way to go, but everyone is required to have insurance. Have you thought about getting an insurance agent? An insurance agent is going to be your best plan of action in any situation you have, and today, I will go over why you will always want an insurance agent in your corner.

The Four Ways to Get Insurance

To start off, there are four main ways people get insurance. One of those ways is by applying over the phone through the marketplace by calling 1-800-318-2596. You can also apply online by visiting the healthcare.gov website. Some people personally like filling the application out on their own and mailing it in. The last main way is, of course, being visited by a personal insurance agent. All of these methods have benefits in their own way, but most are very impersonal. The idea of not having somewhat of a connection with an agent makes it seem that they may not have your best interest at heart compared to an in-person visit from your trusted agent.

Variety of Options

Another reason a personal insurance agent is better than alternatives is the fact that your personal agent will most likely have more than one option. If you order direct or get caught up with captive agents, it could be possible for them to be steered to offer a certain product that might get the most commission or their preferred carrier. Most independent agents have a wide variety of carriers they work with so the availability of the best plan based on your situation is possible. It is also a plus when that agent knows a good amount about you so they can make better decisive suggestions.

Personal involvement

Finally, a personal agent cares. When they sign you up, it will be their job to give you any plan updates, changes in premiums, and to check in with you. These agents become an extension of yourself when they sign you up for a policy. It’s important that you are able to give them those calls when something isn’t going right. Your insurance agent will help you find a balance in all the confusing insurance jargon and can make sure to keep as much money as possible in your pocket. Health insurance is expensive, and you want to be able to be covered in any situation that may arise. That’s why you need a personal agent. For more attributes to look for in an agent, click here.
