Father’s Day: Health Tips for Fathers

With Father’s Day approaching, it’s important that fathers are good in mind and health. Most fathers around the age of 40-50 begin to age at a faster rate, and it’s important that they are taking care of their health as much as possible. So in honor of Father’s Day, today we will be looking at helpful tips in order to keep your father figure in the best shape possible.

Risk for Older Men

As men grow older, their drop in health can range from anywhere around the age of 40-50 depending on their activity. They can experience aching bones, lowered fertility count, diabetes, and weight gain. There are test that doctors run on men in this at-risk age range, such as a prostate tests. Visiting your doctor periodically can help determine your areas of weakness and how to improve your health. Based on your doctor’s suggestions, you will be able to move forward with a health plan to improve your overall fitness and diet that will keep your body working strong and hard. Take charge of your health! Be sure to take plenty of Omega 3 fats, vitamin b12, calcium, vitamin D, and potassium. These nutrients among others are most notable to be missing in older adults, particularly men.

Preventative Care

There is plenty of risk with aging that can be avoided with preventative care. Some of the leading killers to the elderly in the United States are heart disease, cancer, unintentional injuries (falling), strokes, suicide, diabetes, and more. To be able to avoid these type of risks, elderly men should take care of their bodies with the following suggestions:

  • Get enough sleep. Sleep helps the body recover from your longs days. You should aim for seven to nine hours.
  • Quit smoking. Smoking causes more problems than they’re worth. Put the cigs down and find methods to quit.
  • Exercise. You should be active at least for 2 hours each day focusing on aerobic activities.
  • Lower stress. When it comes to stress, keeping it as low as possible is the best for you to avoid heart issues and blood pressure problems.
